Erzengel-Mihail-Kloster

The monastery is situated on a steep cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea and the Holy Mount Athos. It was probably founded in the 12th century, but the current buildings are modern. The nuns returned here after the destruction of the Turkish rule only in the middle of the 20th century. The monastery houses a fragment of the nail from the Holy Cross, to which the faithful from many parts of Greece make pilgrimages.
