Lokaler Name: Le Jardin de l'État
The State Garden is a botanical garden founded in the second half of the 18th century in Saint-Denis on the island of Reunion. The Natural History Museum has been operating on its premises since 1855. Currently, about 2,000 species of plants grow in the garden, including over 50 species of trees. They include varieties of palm trees, African baobabs, Chinese livistones and American redwoods.
Among the avenues in the state garden there is a children's playground, decorative stone arches and a bust of General François Gédéon Bailly de Monthion. Various cultural events take place here regularly, including the Music Festival.
