Hautecombe Abbey

Former Cistercian abbey, now belonging to the Benedictines, picturesquely situated on the shores of Lake Bourget. It was founded in 1125. The complex of buildings consists of an early Gothic church and adjoining mostly Romanesque residential buildings standing around a square courtyard. Inside, gothic wall paintings and valuable medieval furnishings have been preserved.
