Erzbischöfliche Brücke
Lokaler Name: Pont de l'Archevêché
The Archbishop's Bridge is the narrowest pedestrianized bridge in Paris. It was built in the 19th century near the Notre Dame Cathedral. Until 2015, like the nearby Artists' Bridge, it was used by lovers to install padlocks bearing their names. However, due to the excessive load on the structure, the padlocks were removed.
The bridge was built in 1828. It connects the boulevards of Montebello and Tournelle passing through the island of La Cite. As early as 1910, it was planned to be demolished because it disturbed navigation and was very narrow. However, this decision was never implemented. It is a bridge supported on stone pillars, without ornaments, with a low metal railing.
