Botanischer Garten Kumpula

Lokaler Name: Kumpulan kasvitieteellinen puutarha

The Kumpula Botanical Garden was established in the former park surrounding the Kumpula Manor. Currently, more than 3,600 plant species grow here, 800 of which are grown in greenhouses. The garden is divided into several sections where the plants are organized according to the regions they come from.

In the geographical section, you can see plants from different parts of the northern hemisphere. A significant part are species native to Northern Europe, as well as plants from Asia and North America. Then you can move on to harvesting arable, ornamental and medicinal plants. The herbal garden has been arranged to resemble a garden established here in the 17th century.

The buildings in the garden were designed by Gustaf Nyström, one of the most important Finnish architects at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
