Seebrücke Sellin
The pier is 394 meters long and is the longest pier on the island of Rügen. It houses an elegant restaurant and a special gondola for diving. There is a sandy beach by the pier where you can sunbathe and swim in the summer.
The history of the pier dates back to the beginning of the 20th century. In 1906, the first 508 m long pier was built, but after a dozen or so years it was destroyed by pack ice and then by a fire. In 1925, a new pier with a concert hall was built. It was damaged during World War II, and the hall itself remained in good condition until the 1970s and was used as a place for dancing. The modern pier was built in 1998. The architecture of the restaurant refers to the buildings from 1906 and 1925 that stood here earlier.
