Tintagel is a small village on the Cornish coast, considered the birthplace of the hero of the most famous English legend, King Arthur. There are ruins of a medieval castle here, and the picturesque surroundings invite to walks.

According to legend, King Arthur and his friend Sir Kay were raised in Castle Tintagel under the tutelage of the sorcerer Merlin. The name of Merlin's Cave, located in a small coastal bay, reminds of it. It was the vicinity of Tintagel that was to be a model for the mighty Castle Camelot, whose vision King Arthur had already in his childhood. A reference to this legend is the luxurious, neo-Gothic Hotel Camelot, which was frequented by representatives of the aristocracy, royal family and numerous British politicians.

In addition to the castle in the village, you can also see the Gothic church of St. Materiany with a small cemetery, historic post office building and some nice pubs.

The surroundings of Tintagel are also an important attraction. The rocky, fragmented coast is full of coves and small headlands. Places such as Rocky Valley and St Nectan Waterfall are popular excursion destinations. Trebarwith Beach also offers beautiful views.
