Balloch is a tourist destination on Loch Lomond, often referred to as the gateway to the Trossachs National Park. It is an active tourism center famous for its beautiful views and good accommodation and catering facilities.
About half an hour from Glasgow, Balloch is a popular weekend getaway for the city's residents. The main tourist center is Loch Lomond Shores, which combines a water sports center, picturesque waterfront, tourist information center and numerous restaurants and bars on the lake shore.
In the vicinity there is a marina from which you can go on a boat trip on the lake. The historic steamboat PS Maid of the Loch also moors here. In the center you can rent kayaks and other floating equipment to discover the lake and its shores on your own.
The big attractions of Balloch are the Sea Life Loch Lomond aquarium with a large collection of fish and marine animals from around the world and the Loch Lomond Birds of Prey Center, which organizes bird shows and feeding, and allows you to watch predators in their aviaries.
The castle surrounded by a park has been the main building of Balloch since medieval times. It stands on the lakeside in a beautiful setting. Balloch Castle and Country Park is open to visitors not only as a monument, but also a place for walks and outdoor recreation.
