Divin is a village that can boast several valuable monuments from different eras. The most important of them are the ruins of a medieval castle on a hill above the village.
The history of the village is connected with the Divin Castle, which was built in the 13th century and over the centuries it was in the hands of several important Hungarian magnate families. The Balassa family, known for their rogue excesses and invasions on the surrounding estates, established their nest here. In the 17th century the castle was destroyed and it was never rebuilt. Today it remains in a picturesque ruin and is a good vantage point.
Among the attractions of Divina there are also other historic buildings. In the center of the village there is a fortified castle from the 17th century. It is surrounded by defensive walls and the building itself is reminiscent of a small castle. Currently, the renovated manor house is intended for cultural and exhibition purposes. Next to it, there is a baroque church surrounded by walls with corner towers. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, and its present shape was obtained after the reconstruction caused by the invasions of the 17th century.
