The Gotland Museum in Visby is dedicated to various aspects of Gotland's history, geology and nature. The collection comprises 400,000 exhibits and is divided into 4 sections: cultural, works of art, natural history and archaeological.
The exhibitions present, among others clothing, home appliances, jewelry, weapons and agricultural tools from the Bronze Age, Viking Age and the Middle Ages. Here you can see a collection of coins from around the world, the oldest of which date back to around 1,200 years, as well as examples of Marian art from churches in Gotland.
Some of the exhibitions, such as "Ships & Fun", are aimed mainly at children and young people. They let them learn about history while playing and having fun. Children can dress up in Viking costumes, learn to tie knots or properly load the ship.
