Nynäshamn is a port city on the Baltic Sea with a permanent ferry connection with Gdańsk. In summer, it is a thriving holiday resort in the vicinity of Stockholm and a base for the islands of the Stockholm Archipelago.
The city life is concentrated around the port and ferry quay. There is a yacht marina here, which is filled with boats in summer, and on the coast there are wooden houses painted with red paint. There are shops, restaurants and service points in them. Right next to the port, you can see the historic train station for trains to Stockholm. There is a Railway Museum at the station, documenting the development of connections in southern Sweden.
The city is small and its surroundings offer many interesting hiking and cycling routes. Nynäshamn's attractions include a viewpoint which can be accessed directly from the harbor. The bay and the whole city look very picturesque from here. People who like longer trips can take advantage of several routes leading to Stockholm or other places on the Swedish coast. They can be covered both on foot and by bike.
The coast around Nynäshamn is very varied with numerous islands belonging to the Stockholm Archipelago. There are ferries to some of them in summer. The islands and coastal rocks are used for relaxation by the water.
