The museum complex is located at Malmöhus Castle. It includes a nature museum, a science and technology museum, a city history museum and a shipping museum. The collection includes about 500,000 exhibits, 4 million photographs and over 3 million archaeological artifacts.
Permanent nature exhibitions show, among others Scandinavian fauna and flora, natural history dioramas and the taxidermy of animals from around the world. In the history museum, you can learn about the history of Malmöhus Castle, including the period when it was converted into a prison and after the Second World War into a refugee camp.
Within the museum there is also an aquarium, established in 1937 and expanded in 2004. There you can see 60 aquariums and terrariums, in which live both native animals, as well as those from rainforests and coral reefs.
