The Mihai Vodă monastery in Turda was founded in 2002. The monastic buildings are rectangular in shape, on three sides resembling a fortress, and protected by a stone wall on the eastern side. The monastery complex includes a church, a chapel, a belfry and residential and farm buildings.
The architecture of the monastery is a faithful copy of the monastery of the same name, founded in Bucharest at the end of the 16th century by Michael the Brave. He was the hospodar of Wallachia and the prince of Transylvania, until now considered one of the most important Romanian national heroes.
The monastery was founded at the grave of Michał the Brave. There is a monument in the form of a soaring obelisk and a commemorative plaque with the hospodar coat of arms engraved on it.
