The Carpenters' Tower was built in the 14th century as part of the third belt of city fortifications in Sibiu. It is the northernmost of the three towers on today's Citadel Street. Its name refers to the guild of carpenters that financed the construction of the tower.
The building was built of stone and brick. It has a circular shape at the base, which then turns into an octagonal prism. Over the centuries, the tower has been rebuilt several times. Its present appearance is the result of the reconstruction carried out in 1987 and resembles the appearance of the tower from the early 16th century.
