Канатная дорога Guindais
Локальное имя: Funicular dos Guindais
Ribeira is one of the districts of Porto, part of the historic center of the city, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Tourists are attracted here mainly by the main square - Praça da Ribeira, as well as Rua da Fonte Taurina, which is one of the oldest streets in the city and the house Casa do Infante, the museum and the birthplace of Henry the Sailor.
Ribeira is very picturesque. The facades of the buildings are colorful and often covered with azulejo tiles, and the streets are narrow. There are also cafes and atmospheric restaurants. It is worth visiting Largo do Terreiro, where the chapel of Our Lady of the Pieta and Rua Bolsa are located, next to the Palace of da Bolsa.
The name of the district comes from its geographical location - beira-rio means waterfront. From the Middle Ages it was the center of intensive commercial and production activity. In the past, mainly workers and poor people lived here.
