Namysłów is a city that experienced its greatest boom in the late Middle Ages. There are many monuments from this period, including a complex of city walls and Gothic churches.
The city was founded in the 13th century and developed rapidly due to its location on a trade route. Due to its location, it changed hands many times, until in the 15th century it was taken over by the Habsburg dynasty, and at the beginning of the 18th century it was incorporated into Prussia. It only returned to Poland after the Second World War.
In Namysłów, you can see well-preserved city walls with towers and gates, including the Krakow Gate. They have been restored and can now be accessed from their fragments. In the Old Town, the Gothic churches of St. Francis of Assisi and Saint Peter of Alcantara and the Church of St. Peter and Paul. The medieval street layout with a large market square has also been preserved. The Town Hall stands here, the origins of which date back to the 14th century, and its present shape was obtained as a result of numerous reconstructions. It is currently a building with a Gothic body and tower, but with a Renaissance façade.
