Oppdal is a small town situated in the rugged countryside of central Norway. Bare mountains, pastures and forests in the valleys, and wild nature dominate here. It is a place that attracts enthusiasts of active recreation both in summer and winter.

The vicinity of Oppdal is protected by the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park. There are many trails and paths within it, but navigating them requires basic skills in using maps and navigation devices. You can camp in tents, but the place where you stayed must be left unchanged. The park is home to reindeer and the last European herd of arctic musk oxen. One of Oppdal's most popular attractions is the photo-safari in search of these rare animals.

One of the attractions in the area is the Magalaupet Gorge. It is 100 m long, but only one and a half wide, and the foamed water flowing through it can only be admired from the edge of the crevice.

In winter, one of the most famous ski resorts in central Norway operates here. The Oppdal ski resort offers several dozen kilometers of cross-country skiing trails and several ski slopes of various levels of difficulty.
