The museum was established in 1990 in the former rectory. It is the oldest surviving building in Vilkija - the house is believed to be over 300 years old. The place was once very popular with famous Lithuanian artists, but the most outstanding trace was left by the most famous folklorist and ethnographer Antanas Juška. In his collection of objects of local spiritual culture there are, among others lyrics, about 2,000 sets of melodies, handwritten letters by Vydūnas, books by B. Buračas and hundreds of old household items. In addition to exhibitions, there are also traditional music concerts and meetings with interesting people.
