Castle of Bauso

The 16th-century castle was built by Count Stefano Cottone, one of Messina's most important merchants and bankers. Nowadays, you can visit its partially restored interiors and a picturesque Italian-style garden. It is worth paying attention especially to the hand-painted, ceramic tiles on the stairs and floors.
