Vernazza is one of the most beautiful towns in the Cinque Terre. It is located on the slopes of a rock rising above the blue waters of the Ligurian Sea. It is famous for its tenement houses with pastel colors and lots of pubs, where traffic lasts until late evening hours.
The town, although very famous and eagerly visited, still resists mass tourism, mainly due to the lack of large hotels. There are only family pensions here that accept a dozen or so people. Thanks to this, especially in the evenings, the town has a cozy atmosphere, and you can meet both tourists and locals in pubs and bars.
The buildings of Vernazza are very compact, using every inch of space on the steep slope of the rock. Below it, there is a small, secluded beach surrounded by the slopes of the mountains sloping towards the sea. The houses in Vernazza have colorful facades slightly damaged by the sea air and dark green shutters that are closed during the hottest hours of the day.
The town is part of the Cinque Terre National Park. Vernazza also looks beautiful from the surrounding paths and viewpoints, when you can see them against the sea and from where you can see all the buildings.
