The mountain is part of the group of nine sacred mountains of Piedmont and Lombardy, inscribed in 2003 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It has 14 chapels dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary that lead to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria del Monte, a place of pilgrimage since the Middle Ages.
