Valeggio sul Mincio is a small historic town with the towers of the Scaglieri castle from the 14th century. The town is known for its extensive Sigurta Park, which is delightful at any time of the year.
The beginnings of the village are related to the reign of the Lombards. A fortified settlement was established here, which was later taken over by the Scaglieri family. They built one of their castles here, the towers of which are the most characteristic landmark in the village.
Borghetto is one of the most picturesque parts of Vellagio. There is a fortified dam and a step built in the 14th century by the Duke of Milan, Gian Galeazzo Viconti. Stone houses standing on the river bank create a unique atmosphere of this place.
However, the biggest attraction of Vellagio remains the Sigurtà Park. On 60 hectares, there are carefully cared for groves, lawns, flower beds, plant labyrinths and ponds. They are complemented by small architecture objects such as a romantic, neo-gothic temple or relaxation pavilions.
