A fort located on a hill at the mouth of the Irno River. It was built in the mid-16th century as part of a fortification system that was to defend the coast against attacks from the sea. It was in use until World War II and played a large role in the defense of Salerno and the surrounding area. Today, after a complete reconstruction, the fort serves cultural and artistic purposes. The glass rooms host exhibitions and meetings devoted to culture and art. There is also a dining room and a conference room. From the walls you have a wonderful view of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast.
