Pescara is a large port city and a lively holiday resort on the Adriatic. The entire length of the city is stretched by sandy, well-developed beaches, and the local restaurants are famous for fish and seafood dishes.
The city does not have many monuments and the vast majority of its buildings are modern. In return, it offers excellent conditions for entertainment, a rich nightlife and well-prepared beaches.
The name Pescara literally means an estuary. And the river is the axis of the city. Until 1927, its banks were two separate centers. It was only when the bridge was built that one urban organism was created here. Today, one of the most important attractions of Pescara is the Sea Bridge, one of the longest pedestrian and bicycle footbridges in Europe, which was built in 2009 over the mouth of the river.
Pescara is also a port and fishing town, and its cuisine is known for its excellent fish and seafood dishes. The restaurant area is around the beach and the port and the main city promenade.
