Базилика Санта-Мария-Маджоре

The temple was built in the second half of the 12th century. Legend has it that the townspeople vowed a church to Our Lady if she would save the city from the drought, hunger and plague that hit the area in 1133. The exterior decor retains the original architectural shapes of the Lombard Romanesque style, while the interior is mainly Baroque.
