The old town of Santa Cruz de La Palma has the status of a monument and its history dates back to the end of the 15th century. Many original buildings with picturesque wooden balconies have been preserved until the present day, and now house traditional taverns, cafes and shops. Strolling through the cobbled streets, it is worth paying attention to the Renaissance residence of Palacio de Salazar and the historic town hall, formerly serving as the cardinal's palace.
