One of the largest and oldest parks in Asturias, founded in the 13th century as the garden of a Franciscan monastery, is known for its numerous monuments. There are, among others statue of St. Francis and the famous Mafalda - the heroine of the comic book by the Spanish cartoonist Quino (Joaquín Salvador Lavado Tejón).
