Cross of the Fallen

The mausoleum was built in honor of those who died during the Spanish Civil War. Its construction began on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the end of military operations, in 1940, 20,000 prisoners worked there. On the hill above the mausoleum, a 150-meter-high stone cross was erected. The place is popular with pilgrims.
