The Tipperary County Museum is housed in a modern building in the city center. Its mission is to show the history and cultural heritage of the region. There are exhibits showing the history of the city and its surroundings, from prehistoric times to the present day.
The museum is affiliated with the National Museum of Dublin. Thanks to this, its most valuable exhibits can be periodically displayed in the capital, and it can obtain temporary exhibitions from the collections of the largest museum in the country.
The museum's collection includes items discovered during excavations, such as stone tools, ceramics and jewelry, medieval liturgical vessels and crosses, documents and maps of the county, military and uniforms from various periods of the struggle for Irish independence, as well as photographs and graphics depicting various places in the county Tipperary.
