Gash Gardens
Локальное имя: Gash Gardens
The Gash Gardens are just outside the town of Castletown in Co. Laois. They were founded at the end of the 20th century. They are made up of three different gardens, which are connected by water and a stream flowing through the area. There is also a stone house in the garden that blends in perfectly with the surroundings.
In the 1990s, the place where the garden is now located was the yard and pasture of a cow farm. After the change of owner, the character of the place has also changed. A garden was created which is an oasis of peace and relaxation.
The entire site is approximately 2 hectares. There is a rock garden with low, often very intensively flowering plants and gravel paths. Further on, there are meadows limited by a green wall of bushes and trees. Among them are rhododendrons that bloom wonderfully in May and June. The most natural and wild part of the garden are the banks of the stream, where marsh and shade-loving vegetation rule. You can walk here along a narrow path from the flower garden. Among the greenery, overlooking a lilac pond, there is a stone house called the House of the Moon. Through the round window you can admire the cascade falling down to the pond. There is also a nursery in the gardens, where you can buy seedlings of plants viewed in the field.
