A cave in the northern part of Crete, known as the Cretan resistance point against the Turks. In 1823, the Turks besieged several hundred inhabitants of nearby towns here. Ultimately, the defenders were forced to surrender. Some were murdered and some were taken prisoner. In the cave, the corridors of which are located on several levels, a tourist route has been marked out. You can see the remains of the dripstone vestments and a small, underground chapel. A flashlight is required to visit the cave.
