The museum presents the work, work and biography of the sculptor Ossip Zadkine. The collection of over 300 objects includes the artist's original sketches and drawings, hand-woven tapestries, sculptures, documents, photographs and personal belongings.
The couple lived in the museum building from 1928. In 1982, the sculptor's wife, Valentine Prax, donated their home, studio and her husband's private collection to the city of Amsterdam in her last will. The museum was officially opened in the same year, and after renovation in 2012, on the thirtieth anniversary of its foundation, it was re-opened to the public.
In addition to the souvenirs showing the artist's life and work, the facility organizes three to four art-related exhibitions each year.
