Пешеходный мост Леопольда Седара Сенгора

Локальное имя: Passerelle Léopold Sédar Senghor

The Passerelle Leopold Sedar Senghor is a pedestrian bridge connecting the 1st and 7th arrondissements of Paris. It is a cast iron structure made at the end of the 20th century. The surface is made of tropical wood imported from Brazil.

The first bridge in this place was built in the mid-nineteenth century. Its name commemorated the Battle of Solferino. However, a dozen or so years later it was dismantled due to the risk of collapse. The second bridge standing here also had to be demolished in 1992. The current structure is the work of the architect Marc Mimram. In 1999, he received the Golden Ekierka award for it.

It is a cast iron arch bridge supported by two massive pillars. It can be accessed both from street level and by stairs from the Seine embankment. The bridge is named after Leopold Sedar Senghor, the first president of Senegal.
