Великий Менгир Эр Грэ
Локальное имя: Grand Menhir d'Er Grah
The monumental menhir is part of the Neolithic complex, including the Er-Grah tomb and the Table des Marchand dolmen. The menhir was probably erected around 4700 BC. It measures 20.6 meters in height and weighs 280-330 tons, which makes it the largest known menhir in the world.
About 500 years after its erection, the menhir was overturned for unknown reasons. As a result of the fall, it broke into four parts. The longest one is 7.5 m long, and the others 4.1 to 4.5 m long. Currently, three of them face southwest, and the fourth is still stuck in the ground.
The surface of the menhir was smoothed with stone tools. According to the research, the stone was processed after it was erected, because the base stuck into the ground does not show any traces of processing.
