Nexø is Bornholm's second largest city and its most important fishing and passenger port. It is known for its historic medieval buildings, several interesting museums and the factories of traditional Bornholm vodkas.

The origins of the city date back to the medieval times. There was a commercial and fishing port here, which had a great impact on the development of the town. The most important monument of the city is the medieval church of St. Nicholas. In the church cemetery, you can see an anchor-shaped monument dedicated to those who died at sea.

The center of Nexø is made of cobbled streets and low, colorful houses, many of which are half-timbered. Among them there are small smokehouses offering freshly smoked fish, which are supplied by fishermen going out to sea every day. The most famous of them is the historic Nexø Gamle Røgeri smokehouse, where you can see how local delicacies are made.

Museums are also among the attractions of Nexø. The most important of these is the Nexø Museum, which tells the story of the town and its relationship with the sea. There is also an exhibition on sea rescue, where you can see the equipment of rescuers from the early 20th century. Also of interest is the Bornholm Railway Museum, and literature lovers can visit Nexø Mindestuer introducing the writer Martin Andersen.

The butterfly park, a large greenhouse that recreates the conditions of the tropical climate, is an unusual attraction for Nexø on Bornhlom. In addition, you can also visit the Bornholm vodka factory, where sightseeing is combined with tasting.
