The historic cathedral is the tallest and longest church in Denmark. It is 93 m long and 96 m high. Originally built in the Romanesque style, it has been completely rebuilt in the Gothic style and is considered one of the most outstanding examples of Danish Gothic.
In the richly decorated interior, monumental frescoes depicting biblical scenes attract special attention. Most of them date from 1470-1520. After the Reformation in 1536, the frescoes were painted over, but at the end of the 20th century they were unveiled and restored. During the tour, it is worth seeing the altar from 1479, a copper baptismal font with a bronze cover from 1481 and a carved Renaissance pulpit. There is also a characteristic votive ship from the 18th century and a baroque organ.
