The Maritime Museum was opened in 1992. It is divided into several sections with 11 permanent exhibitions. One of the pavilions is entirely dedicated to the Danish Navy. It features a collection of uniforms, navigation tools, diving equipment and the reconstructed interior of the decompression cabin.
A big attraction is the tour of the fully functional ship "Springeren", which was the last submarine designed and built in Denmark. It was launched in 1963, and in 1989 it was withdrawn from use. Currently, it is fully open to the public. It is 53.9 meters long and can descend 250 meters.
In the remaining pavilions there is a collection of ship models with over 600 exhibits. An interesting fact is Polish accents, such as Polish medals, photographs or models of Polish ships.
