Průhonice is a small village known primarily for its neo-Renaissance chateau and one of the largest landscape parks in the Czech Republic. It is a picturesque complex that is perfect for relaxing in nature.

Today's town consists of three medieval villages that were joined together in the 19th century. From the 13th century, a small, gothic defensive castle stood here, which was rebuilt many times in the following centuries. The building that we can admire today comes from the second half of the 19th century and is built in the Neo-Renaissance style.

The castle in Průhonice was built by Count Arnošt Emanuel Silv-Tarouc. His idea was also the extensive Průhonice Park surrounding the building. They are now the biggest attractions, not only in Průhonice, but also in the whole area. There is also a Romanesque Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the castle. Only part of the castle interiors are open to the public, because the rest are home to various state institutions related to culture.

Průhonice Park boasts a remarkable collection of rhododendrons and magnolias. There are over 8,000 of them here. There is also a combined cascade of several artificial lakes, a dendrological park, flower gardens with irises, roses and peonies, a rock garden, and forest and meadow areas with marked walking paths.
