Iglesia de los Santos Constantino y Elena
Nombre local: Biserica Sfinții Împărați Constantin și mama sa Elena
The historic church was built at the end of the 17th century. It is part of the Horezu monastery complex, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and recognized as an architectural masterpiece of the Brynkowian style.
The facade of the church is decorated with rectangular panels and decorative niches. The main entrance is surrounded by marble ornaments and an inscription with the coats of arms of Wallachia and the Cantacuzino boyar family.
Inside the temple, you can see numerous historic paintings, the oldest of which come from the end of the 18th century, i.e. the time of construction of the temple. They depict both religious scenes and portraits of representatives of wealthy and influential boyar families. During the tour, it is also worth paying attention to the monumental iconostasis made of carved linden wood.
