Slatiňany is a small town famous for breeding horses belonging to the UNESCO-listed National Stud Kladruby and a museum dedicated to horse riding.

From the 14th century the main building of the village is Slatiňany Castle. The originally gothic building was rebuilt over time, first in the spirit of the Renaissance, and then into the neoclassical residence of the Auersperg family. In addition to the chateau, a big attraction in Slatiňany is the surrounding park with cherry and chestnut alleys, extensive lawns and walking paths.

The castle is now open to the public, and the presented interiors come primarily from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Apart from the representative rooms and private rooms, you can visit, among others, bathrooms, a kitchen or an ice room.

In the palace interiors and in the nearby building called Swiss due to the style resembling alpine shelters, there is an exhibition devoted to the Old Kladruby horses. The sightseeing tour may be extended with a visit to the local stud where these famous Czech horses are bred.
