Kuks is a small village, founded as a health resort of Count Sporek at the end of the 17th century. A palace and hospital complex with a garden, recreational areas and a tomb of the Spork family has been preserved here.
The village was founded in 1695 as a resort-residence of Count Sporek. In addition to the palace, there were at that time baths, a guest house, a theater, a horse racing track and a library. At the beginning of the 18th century, the Brothers came to the residence and erected a monastery connected with a hospital from the Spork Foundation.
Currently, the Kuks hospital with the hospital garden is the biggest attraction of the town. Inside there are baroque sculptures by Maciej Bernard Braun depicting allegories of vices and virtues. The Czech Museum of Pharmacy operates in the Baroque hospital, and medicinal and herbaceous plants are grown in the garden. There is also an orchard with historical species of fruit trees.
