Broumov is a town on the Czech-Polish border, known for its Baroque Benedictine abbey and beer production. Both the monastery and the brewery are open to the public.

In 1213, the lands where today's Broumov is located were given to the Benedictines by King Přemysl Otakar I. They built their monastery here, around which a settlement grew. Its inhabitants were mainly craftsmen.

The monastery was destroyed many times as a result of wars and fires, but thanks to its extensive goods, it was always rebuilt in an even more magnificent form. Today the Benedictine Abbey of St. Wenceslas in its form from the beginning of the 18th century is the greatest attraction of Broumov. There is a museum here, and tourists can visit the monastery buildings on various thematic routes. The monastery presents, among others, copy of the Shroud of Turin made in the 17th century.

In addition to the monastery, many historic, mainly 17th and 18th century houses have been preserved in the city itself. They form the surroundings of a picturesque market square with a Marian column. Nearby, there is a Gothic parish church with interiors rebuilt in the late Baroque style. On the other hand, in the cemetery, you can see a wooden church from the mid-15th century.

Another attraction of Broumov is the historic brewery, which is open to the public. You can learn the secrets of the production of the golden drink and take part in tasting. The city is also a good base for people who want to explore the Czech Table Mountains. In the area there are, among others the famous Broumov Steny.
