Las ruinas del castillo de Ratno Dolny

Nombre local: Ruiny Zamku w Ratnie Dolnym

Although the castle is in private hands, today it is a ruin that nobody cares about. Its present appearance is the result of the nineteenth-century reconstruction, although the basic, sixteenth-century concept is still visible. After a fire in 1998, which destroyed some of the ceilings and rooms, the castle turned into a complete ruin. The park next to the castle is also very neglected, where you can come across a ruined orangery. Entry to the castle is unlimited, but it is dangerous to enter the ruins.

The castle was built at the beginning of the 16th century as the seat of the Pannownice family. In the 16th century, when Ulrich von Hardegg became its owner, the stronghold was expanded in the Renaissance style and surrounded by ramparts. After 1945, the castle became the seat of the local state-owned farm, and then a holiday home of the PNA.

The castle was built on an irregular plan. It is distinguished by a beautiful, Renaissance attic and a high, 6-storey tower. Next to it, you can find a small cemetery, and below - a vast castle park. The current owner of the castle does not work to save or even protect the monument, and does not react to any official urges.
