Mielno is a holiday resort and bathing area on the Baltic coast. There are two wide sandy beaches here, and the town also has a good accommodation and catering infrastructure.
The origins of Mielno are related to the existence of an early Slavic settlement here from the 10th century. In its vicinity, a settlement was established in the Middle Ages, the center of which was centered around the Church of the Transfiguration. Today, this temple stands on the outskirts of the city and owes its appearance to the 19th century reconstruction.
The location of Mielno between the sea and Lake Jamno, partly on the spit, meant that tourism developed here from the 19th century. Most historic guesthouses and villas, mainly from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, can be seen in the Stare Mielno district.
Today's Mielno is primarily a holiday resort. Its biggest attraction is the beach in Mielno with good accommodation and catering facilities. The Promenade runs along the beach, which is a popular destination for walks and a place from where you can admire the sunsets. Tourists can also use beach volleyball courts, water equipment rentals and canoe trips on Lake Jamno.
