One of the oldest city parks in today's Poland. In its center there is an artificial island with a wooden gazebo. The park suffered a lot from floods in 1976, 1978 and 1980, but thanks to intensive efforts it was restored to its former glory.
The park was probably founded in the 18th century. Originally it had a network of water canals, as evidenced by archival documents. They were used to make wreaths on Midsummer's Eve, and in winter also for skating. Many different types of trees (including chestnut trees, hornbeams, spruces and larches) grew along the alleys, but a large part of them had to be cut down after the floods.
A bust of Marshal Piłsudski was also exhibited in the park, but it was hidden during World War II and has not been found to this day. There is a natural monument in the park - the “Kazimierz” oak.
