Ruinas de la fortaleza en Danków

Nombre local: Ruiny twierdzy w Dankowie

The ruins of the bastion-type fortress are the remains of the only building of this type in Poland. It had an unusual layout similar to a rectangle. Only the walls, ramparts of the bastion fortifications, the gate, the church and the remains of a brick building known as the "castellan's house" have survived to this day. The ruins are fully accessible to visitors.

The first fortified stronghold was built in this area probably even in the 13th century. From the 17th century, the castle was the seat of the Warszycki family, and Andrzej Warszycki is considered its first owner. The bastion fortifications were founded by Stanisław III Warszycki, the castellan of Kraków, who defended the castle during the war with Sweden.

The ruins of the fortress are situated in a picturesque place - on the bank of the Liswarta River. In the 1960s, conservation works related to facing the embankments were carried out here.
