Located in the Częstochowa Upland, the Stajnia Cave is famous for its sensational discovery made in 2008. A group of archaeologists from the University of Wrocław discovered three molars of a Neanderthal. These are the oldest human remains discovered in Poland. Rich traces of Neanderthal settlement have also been discovered here - incl. tools. The cave is not open to commercial sightseeing.
The cave is located near the castle in Bobolice, at the northern foot of the Rock with Grotto belonging to the Mirowskie Rocks. In front of the entrance, there is a board informing tourists about the discoveries made here. There are also some climbing walls nearby.
The cave itself is small and not very large. It has two openings, a relatively high ceiling and a large corridor. It is quite dry and does not have its own microclimate.
