Åndalsnes is a small village on the Romsdalfjord, close to the famous Troll Road. It is surrounded by picturesque mountains, deep mountain valleys and wonderful viewpoints that can be reached during several hours of hiking in the mountains.
Today Åndalsnes is primarily a tourist center and a small fishing and passenger port. Tourists visit them primarily because of the Trolls 'Way and Trolls' Walls, which are among the most important attractions of Norway.
The Troll Road is a route that leads dozens of sharp turns through the passes and slopes of the surrounding mountains. There are numerous places and viewing platforms from which you can admire the panorama of the surrounding area. On the other hand, the best view of Åndalsnes itself and the fjords is from Mount Nesaksla rising above the city, which can be reached via a hiking trail.
The area around Åndalsnes has many waterfalls and deep stream valleys. The most famous of them is the picturesque Stifossen waterfall, which you can admire, among others. from the historic Stigfossbrua stone bridge.
