Castillo de riga

The castle used to belong to the Order of the Knights of the Sword, and now the seat of the President of the Republic of Latvia. Originally a gothic building, built in the years 1330-1353, it was destroyed by the townspeople of Riga at the end of the 15th century. It was rebuilt in 1515 in the baroque style, with round defensive towers in the corners. The Riga Castle was a place where the master of the Knights of the Sword Order paid tribute to the representatives of the Polish king, and in 1582 Stefan Batory resided within its walls.
