Castillo de Verrès

The fortified 14th century castle has been named one of the most impressive medieval buildings in the area. Built as a military fortress by Yblet de Challant in the 14th century, it was one of the first examples of a castle built as a single structure rather than as a complex of buildings. From the outside, it looks like a crude cube, practically devoid of decorative elements.
